Roeselare (French: Roulers) is a Belgian city and municipality in the Flemish province of West Flanders. The municipality of Roeselare is located in the heart of West Flanders, on the river Mandel. Roeselare and the valley of the Mandel were settled very early; remains of Prehistoric settlements have been found recently in Roeselare, as well as remains of a Roman village near the today's river port. During the first World War, after the stabilisation of the Yser front, Roeselare was the next town to the front; in 1918, 2/3 of the town were completely destroyed. In 1925, most of the town was rebuilt.
